WuHan QingShanFang
Wuhan Qingshanfang is a lighting design for a building in the Qingshan District of Wuhan, China. The lighting covers an area of 4500 square metres. Warm light of 3500K illuminates red aluminium panels and forms a crown of red steel above a red brick building. The facade mainly uses internal transmitted light, which recalls the candlelight of the old red houses. Custom luminaires were made for the project. The lamps were selected for efficiency, energy saving and safety, and were placed to reduce glare.
WuHan QingShanFang Lighting Design by AlexXu&Partners was selected as an innovative example of industrial design by the A' Design Award. WuHan QingShanFang Lighting Design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Lighting Products and Fixtures Design in 2022. The A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design prize that rewards superior design of chandeliers, pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, floor lamps, outdoor lights, recessed lights, track lights and more.
